Welcome!
Welcome to my blog, “Chi Puppy Life.” This year we brought a new style to are website and so many new updates and pictures!
Two summers ago Alice had surgery on her kneecap now in 2012 you might be asking yourself how is she doing now? Well here is the detail on her progress!
Alice had a issue for a while with her back kneecap the doctors diagnosed her with Luxating Patella. Which caused her to have walking problems. So she was to have surgery in the summer of 2010. Well two years have gone by and we are very pleased with the way she is walking. She can run and play with Ralph and do so much more. Alice today still cant walk upstairs but its not like we want her too. The healing process was stressful but we got through it and now she is a happy Chihuahua!

*Attention* all ChiPuppyLife fans.... If you haven't checked the website has not been posted to in a while. Well that ends now cause the website is back up and running! Sorry for the long waiting period but with school and all I just have not had the time to post new and improved pictures and more. Keep looking for there shall be plenty of news/pictures/updates on the "adult" pups!
If you don't already know our dog Alice over went Surgery for a Luxating Patella A problem in which the kneecap dislocates and makes it hard to walk. Well it went fine and now Alice is doing a "Dog Rehab" you might call it to help her regain strength and get her muscles back to normal. Here is a Video of Alice Doing the treadmill and the Under water treadmill.

Hi everyone! Ralph and Alice took their first ever trip out-of-state last weekend. We went to grandma and grandpa M's home near Cincinnati. R and A were great in the car for an entire 4 hours -- they slept in laps, played in the back of the car, and looked out the windows. And, they were very good at grandma and grandpa's house. No accidents on the floor (not that we know about anyway, hahaha!). They are just over 5 months old now, can you believe it? Alice weighs about 8 lbs, and Ralph is close to 6 lbs. They can sit and come back on command, and they can stay for almost 30 seconds in one spot. Not bad, not bad at all. Here are some pictures from our trip!
Ralph enjoys sitting on grandpa M's nice, warm lap. Doesn't he look handsome?
Alice sitting in my dad's lap. Such a pretty girl.
Ralph takes a bath in grandpa M's lap.

That's me walking near a forest with Ralph and Alice following. They loved playing in grandma and grandpa's big yard.

Here are some new pictures of Ralph and Alice. Sorry I've not been updating the blog very much lately. I will try to update the blog every couple of weeks -- school keeps me really busy! Ralph and Alice are doing great. They have been to four puppy training classes at PetSmart. They are doing well with "sit" and "stay," but they need to learn "come." My mom ends up chasing them in the mornings when they go out for their morning potty break. They won't come to her, so she has to run around in backyards to get them to come back (in her bathrobe!). Here are some pictures taken today at PetSmart, after class. Our blog friends, Cindypup and Mr. Cindypup joined us for the class, and, they brought treats and toys for them! What lucky puppies to have blog fans!
My brother, S., me w/ Alice, Grandma C. w/ Ralph and our great Aunt H, who fostered the pups when they were babies.
My brother, S., holding Alice. Ralph is next to him. They get tired after about 30 minutes in class. It really wears them out! Today they learned "stay" and we worked on loose leash walking. Ralph got scared and didn't want to walk around on the leash, but Alice did fine.

Some shots of Ralph and Alice around the house, in laps, in bed, etc. They are getting big! Well, as big as Chihuahuas get. Alice almost weighs 6 pounds! Ralph is just under 5 pounds. Alice is our easy-going girl; Ralph is full of energy and doesn't shut down until bedtime around 9:30 p.m. They are going to be 4 months old soon.
Ralph with me. He looks proud, doesn't he?
Ralph, looking for his sister, of course.
Alice loves to cuddle with my mom before bed. She always falls asleep in her arms.
Pretty Alice. Look at those fine pink ears!
Ralph is ready for bed. This is his new "donut" bed, and he loves it. Sometimes he and Alice cuddle together in the "donut."
Alice (left) and Ralph (right). We built a very large play pen for them so they have plenty of room to play while we're gone at school and work.

Sorry! I know it's been a long time since I posted anything. Last week I went on vacation with my family, and I also went back to school. Busy, busy, busy! Ralph and Alice are doing great! They stayed with Aunt H. and Uncle T. (their foster parents) while we were on vacation. They had a blast! They even had a play date with their brother, Petey. You can see a cool video of them playing on T's awesome blog, "Pups is Pups." Here's a link: http://pupsispups.blogspot.com/
Alice is getting BIG. She was weighed at the vet's office earlier this week, and she weighs 4 lbs, 6 oz already! Wow! Ralph is still smaller, but he's trying hard to be the boss. We were getting worried that he was beating up on his sister too much, so we separated them for a day. This helped. Ralph is a better boy now.
Here are some of the latest pics of our babies.
Alice after her first bath in our home. She shivered for about 10 minutes after her bath, but mama held her in a warm towel the whole time and she liked that. :-)
Ralph looks pretty unhappy, doesn't he? He shivered after his bath, too. But he loved the attention from mama.
Alice having fun in the sun. Look at those tall ears!
Nice shot of Alice's lovely spots.
Here's a good shot of Ralph's heart and Alice's spots.
Alice loves to turn into a pretzel when she plays in the grass.
Alice takes a rest after playing in the grass with her brother.
Here's me with Ralph (left) and Alice (right). We let them play outside a few times each day for exercise.

Check-ups at the vet
Ralph and Alice met their forever vet yesterday, and they got booster shots. They were really good for the doctor and they didn't bark once, not even during the shots! They are very healthy. Here's an update on their weights:
Alice: 3 lbs., 12 oz.
Ralph: 3 lbs., 2 oz.

That's me, L, making sure they don't jump off the examination table.
"Ok, let's get this over with. We want to go home."

Playtime!
"Let's dig!"
Wow, we didn't know that Alice could fly.
Ralph loves to drag himself across grass. Feels good on the tummy.
My brother, S, with Alice. She's looking like a big girl here.
Ralph: "What can I chew on now? I'm done with this sock and I'm tired of that rope toy."
Alice: "Yes, I am a pretty girl. I know it."
This is Ralph, resting on his mama dog. One of his cyberaunties, Cindypup, gave Ralph and Alice this soft mama dog for them to cuddle with. They love her.

One-week anniversary!
Our first week with Ralph and Alice has come and gone. They are already slipping into a reliable routine. And, even the house training is going well! They are learning to go into the "bathroom" area of their crate when they need to answer nature's call, or, they go outside if they are near a door. They have occasional accidents, but so far, it's going a lot better than we ever thought it would.
Every evening, we take them out in the yard and let them run around and chase each other. They also play around in the family room a lot (under intense supervision, of course).
Mom and Dad enjoy holding them on their laps in the evenings.
Little Ralph gets a kiss on his heart-shaped spot. 10 weeks old.
Ralph: "Ahhh, this is the life. It only took a week to get these people under my control."
Alice, looking lovely while sitting on my brother S's stomach. 10 weeks old.
Alice: "I think I'll take a nap right here in S's lap." (you can see her incision from the spay surgery...it's healing up nicely.)
Puppy love. Too precious.

What We Did on Adoption Day -- July 31, 2010
The first thing we did when the pups came home, after a bit of cuddling and a cool drink of water, was a round of crate training. We bought a very large crate for Ralph and Alice. They will stay in the crate when we’re all gone at school and work. And, they will sleep in it at night (I think my mom wants to have them sleep with her and dad someday...for now, they will be in the crate). We had no problems with crate training! We put a soft pad, several toys, water bowl, and some kibbles in the crate, and they walked right in. Just like home!
Ralph feels right at home in the crate.
Alice rests her head on her brother in the crate.
After they got used to the crate, we let them out in our family room to play. They jumped up in the air, flew around the room, and couldn’t wait to explore everything in their new home. They had a big day of riding home from the shelter, shopping at PetsMart (it took over an hour to finish up because shoppers had to stop and visit with Ralph and Alice), and the final arrival at their forever homes. We let them play on the grass in the backyard. Just for a few minutes. They leaped up in the air and bucked like goats. LOL!!
Yawn...Ralph and Alice are Ready for Bed
Their first day in their forever home was almost too much for these babies. My brother and I watched “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” (the old version) and each pup slept in its own soft lap bed. Aren’t they cute in these beds?
What do the cats think about these new additions?
We have three cats: Sophie (ragdoll), Cassie (Norwegian Forest), and Dot (tabby/Egyptian Mao). They have been great with the pups! So far, we've only heard one or two hisses. Our big ragdoll, Sophie, got chased around the family room a few times this morning by Alice. Funny to see a huge cat on the run from a tiny Chi dog. lol Dot is curious and likes to just watch. Cassie does not show any interest in the dogs. Hmmm, maybe she is planning to attack!
Dot, the cat, helps with the folding of laundry while keeping a close eye on little Ralph.
